Question Leave your opinion in here ...

    Hello to every one.

Some days ago i saw a post where the user was saying that ubuntu should concentrate more on a stable sistem and not on a shiny system..
So lets see what everyone thinks about this :

    What is your opinion :

    1. Ubuntu should make one version /year but more stable
    2. Ubuntu shooould continue the path
    3. Ubuntu should make him self more shiny
    4. Ubuntu should make it more easy to use (hit a larger public)

    5. Ubuntu could still make 2 versions per year, as community kernel updates, and focus on stability, functionality, driver support for their LTS releases.

    My personal answear :

    Code:
    1,4

Sorry to state the obvious, but shouldn't Ubuntu strive for all of the above? (1-4)

I think we want it to be the best it can be, an all-rounder, the way an OS should be?

Re: Leave your opinion in here ...

Maybe I am being unrealistic but isn't Ubuntu easy to use already? I personally think Vista and Windows 7 are more confusing for new people than Ubuntu has been in the last several releases. I am not referring to stability here...just the GUI. Is that what everyone wants made simpler?

My IT peers tried switching an office to Ubuntu and all the workers complained because they couldn't do their work. I just couldn't understand why people were unable to use adapt Are everyday people really so simple?

I've seen people complain about installing software and having to use the command line but honestly, Synaptic is easy! And it is safer than installing software in Windows (since at approved repos are pretty much trustworthy). And does the average user really need to touch the command line these days? I find myself getting rusty with it because it isn't needed the way it used to be.

#1 if making it shinier includes gatting audio to work out of the box.
    Otherwise... I guess it'd still be #1.

I would mind an annual relesae cycle if it meant it took a lot less work to get everything to work.

Well Ubuntu has one more release to go before 10.10 is launched with Gnome3 as default.
